Guest Panelists:

Vimlendra Sharan, Director, FAO Office for North America

Mr. Sharan brings national and international government leadership experience focusing on rural development, agriculture and food security issues. He was actively involved in agriculture and food policy formulation in the Government of India. Mr. Sharan was previously Permanent Representative of India to the Rome based UN Agencies. He was a member of FAO’s Programme Committee, Chairman of the IFAD Evaluation Committee, and Vice President of the Board of the World Food Programme. Vimlendra Sharan holds a degree in Economics from University of Delhi, and a MBA in Public Policy from University of Birmingham, UK.

Jean Lebel, President, IDRC

As President, Jean Lebel leads IDRC’s contributions to Canada’s development, foreign policy, and global innovation efforts. He is responsible for partnerships with Canadian and foreign governments, philanthropic organizations, and the private sector. He has contributed at high levels in global research for development in areas of agriculture, food security, environment and eco-toxicology. Dr. Lebel holds a PhD in environmental sciences from UQAM, and an MScA in occupational health sciences from McGill University.
