Automated uninstallation of unused software on McGill-managed machines
As part of McGill’s ongoing efforts to keep our systems secure, McGill IT Services will begin on February 15, 2023, automatically uninstalling unused and outdated software that may contain security vulnerabilities from ICS-managed desktop and laptop Windows computers.
How does this affect you?
The removal process for unsupported and vulnerable software (i.e., outdated versions of Java and Adobe Acrobat) will be performed in small batches and will include software that has not been used in 90 days or more. This process should be imperceptible to you.
If you later require the use of software, the Software Center will have these applications available for reinstallation.
