Changes to acquisition of cloud solutions: Adobe

Published: 18 February 2022

This message is sent out on behalf of Francois Pouliot, Director of Procurement Services

Good day all,

Further to our last message on February 8th regarding changes to the approval process for the acquisitions of cloud services, Procurement Services are sharing with you the following developments, effective immediately:

  • We have learned that Quebec’s Centre d’acquisition gouvernemental (the “CAG”), in collaboration with Infrastructure Technologique Québec (“ITQ”) will be working with Adobe and perform a vetting of their solutions for privacy and information security, as part of a province-wide negotiation of a Master Agreement that will allow public bodies such as McGill University to enter into a contract to acquire Adobe products in full compliance with applicable legislation and standards.

  • McGill Procurement Services have therefore decided that the acquisition of Adobe products should not be subject to a mandatory, independent due diligence by McGill (or McGill constituents’), and have added Adobe products to the “Deferral” category of the “How To”. The prior vetting of the solution required by the Cloud Directive is therefore temporarily waived until March 2023, when the University is expected to enter into a contract under the Master Agreement negotiated by the CAG.

  • During this period, community members can order Adobe products with MMP (from resellers Insight, Compugen, and Softchoice) or Pcard, however, users must abide by the good faith commitment to not use the cloud components of the bundle to store any of their content on the ADOBE cloud.

Regards,

François Pouliot
