As presented at the Year-End Reporting and Communication session, your faculty/unit variance analysis is due on May 31, 2018 via email to ani.kotchounian [at] mcgill.ca. Please sign into the financial services website at http://www.mcgill.ca/financialservices/reporting/yearendvariances to retrieve your reports. For a step by step comprehensive guide, please refer to “variance analysis how to document” and provide brief explanations for all line-items identified in red. The appendix should serve as your guide for the expected response. Please ensure you advise Ani, via email, if you think you cannot meet this deadline. You should assign a delegate in your out of office Outlook message if you are planning to be away in June as our team may need to reach you should a clarification be necessary.
Please note that although the reports can be refreshed daily, it is imperative that you refresh the reports one final time after MAY 24, 2018 to allow for salary accruals and the overhead recovery fee to be posted. These adjusted figures should be used to comment on your variances.
Please remember that the explanations you provide are verified by our external auditors and appear in the official Financial Statement Analysis (FSA) presented to the University’s Board of Governors.
