Preparing case studies for today’s learners

In business schools, operations management (OM) and analytics courses often use case studies to drive student learning. While OM cases have traditionally focused on applications in production and manufacturing, millennial and Gen Z students are increasingly drawn to more practical, hands-on cases that develop their skills in areas like programming and data analytics.

Professor Maxime Cohen and C. Daniel Guetta of the Columbia Business School, with colleagues at McGill and New York University, have set out to create cases studies better suited to today’s learners.
