Reford Gardens hosting event on Bicentennial Special Stage

Celebrating McGill University’s impact on Quebec society and the Lower St-Lawrence and Gaspesie regions, Reford Gardens will be hosting a two-part special event on the Bicentennial Special Stage on August 21, 2021 at 3:00 p.m.

In a collaboration between McGill’s Peter Guo-hua Fu School of Architecture and the Schulich School of Music, four students worked together to conceive, design and build a stage with a creative, “funky” aesthetic. Double sided with eight loudspeakers and 3D sound, the stage and pavilion are home to many events including concerts, poetry readings and more in Reford Gardens. Eventually, the stage will be disassembled and moved to the Downtown Campus for more Bicentennial celebrations and events. 

Activities will feature talks and performances from McGill alumni François Rioux (MBA ’10), Josée April (BMus’83, MMus’86) and Ludovik Lesage-Hinse (GArtDip’17). There will also be presentations by current students on their research on topics of importance to the Lower St. Lawrence region and a collaborative, inter-university lecture by Gaspésie Peninsula McGill Education's Caroline Temcheff (Associate Professor, Dept. Educational and Counselling Psychology) and Université du Québec à Rimouski's Martine Poirier.
