Second Annual Reception Honoring Professor Phil Distin's Memory

On Thursday November 7, 2019, we came together for the second annual reception honoring Professor Phil Distin’s memory. This year, students were actively involved in organizing the event as Phil would have liked to see. Students, staff, alumni and friends had the opportunity to share food bites-including oysters, have a drink or two all while Phil’s favorite piano music played.

Phil served the Department for 30 years from 1972 to 2002 as Professor putting his priority in teaching and mentoring students both undergraduate and graduate alike. Thanks to a generous gift from one of his former graduate students, the Department has established this yearly event to recognize his many contributions to our community as teacher, colleague and overall nice guy.
