Afghanistan Then and Now – Part I

The presenter made many visits to Afghanistan between 1988 and 2003.
Part I - Monarchy established and a modernization program introduced.
Part II - Communist regime entered into power and followed by invasion by the Russian Army. In 1978 the guerrilla movement Mujahedeen is created to battle the Soviet-backed government.
Part III - Islamic militia the Taliban rises to power and eventually controls the government. In the third session, if time permits, participants will have the opportunity to give their views on the outcome of NATO’s involvement in Afghanistan.
