Epidemiology is the branch of medicine that deals with the incidence, distribution, and possible control of diseases and other factors relating to health. In this 6-week lecture series, professors in McGill University’s Faculty of Medicine will explore what epidemiologists do and how their work affects us. This includes : evaluating médications, their benefits and dangers; examining electronic prescriptions and medical records and their potential exploitation; and weighing the upsides and downsides of changing childbirth practices... and so much more.

Diagnosis is the first and most critical step towards correct treatment. But diagnostic tests are not perfect - doctors and patients need to be aware of their limitations and strengths. We will review the scientific method for evaluating the accuracy of new tests, explore point-of-care testing, and see how modern technologies are bringing diagnostics into our homes.

Le diagnostic est l'étape initiale et critique d'un processus de traitement approprié. Or, les tests ne sont pas parfaits - les médecins comme les patients se doivent de connaître les points faibles et les points faibles de ces tests.
