“If we accept and acquiesce in the face of discrimination, we accept the responsibility ourselves. We should, therefore, protest openly everything ... that smacks of discrimination or slander.”
These are the words of Mary McLeod Bethune who was an American educator and civil rights leader best known for starting a school for black students in Daytona Beach, Florida that eventually became Bethune-Cookman University and for being an advisor to President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
She is but one example of a strong woman activist. Our history is rich with women activists who have taken the lead in advocating for so many important causes.
Do you consider yourself a leader? Do you feel passionate about a cause or issue? Do you feel the need to promote change? Are you willing to fight for what you believe to be right and true?
