Lectures are given by some of McGill’s most eminent and engaging academics, and topics range from jazz appreciation to the latest developments in sustainable energy.

Although these concepts may make us chuckle, they pose real and complex challenges to the legal system. Professor Wendy Adams uses everyday examples from anti-cruelty legislation, inheritance laws and civil litigation to explore the legal issues surrounding society’s responsibilities to our four-legged friends.

Wendy Adams is an Associate Professor in McGill's Faculty of Law, where she teaches corporate law, intellectual property and animal law. Her research in animal law focuses broadly on the legal implications of the strong emotional bonds that can exist between humans and their pets. She is particularly interested in conducting critical re-examinations of human-centric legal traditions. She is also involved in animal advocacy and provides legal information and assistance to animal protection organizations.
