Orchids are fascinating plants. According to a 2007 Nature study, the origins of their plant family, Orchidaceae, can be traced back as far as 70-80 million years. It is no surprise then, that as one of the most diverse plant families on the planet, the Orchidaceae family includes 10s of 1000s of species. The moth orchid is for many a gateway into the orchid world. This beautiful plant can be tricky for beginners, but once you know its secrets you will find moth orchids to be an easy and rewarding houseplant. This workshop is for those taking on their first moth orchid, or for those orchid-lovers who are always willing to learn more about their favorite plants! In this workshop, orchid-lover and McGill Plant Science PhD student Christie Lovat will address the special needs moth orchids. Participants will receive large moth orchid (valued at 40$) in a 4” pot to take back to the office or home. The workshop will run for about 30 minutes with plenty of time for questions.

The cost of this workshop will be 30$. You will bring home a moth orchid valued at 40$, and a .pdf copy of the presentation. The following link will lead to a doodle poll where you can register. Please note that the poll is capped at 20 people. Because of the limited available seating, please only register if you are sure you can attend. If the registration is full when you go to register, please send Christie Anna Lovat an e-mail at christie-anna [dot] lovat [at] mail [dot] mcgill [dot] ca and I will be happy to put you on a waiting list (or answer any other questions you may have).
