SKILLSETS - Talking it up without dumbing it down: How to communicate with non-experts

Monday, November 23, 2009 12:00to13:00
Thomson House-Ballroom, Thomson House-Ballroom, CA

You’ve spent years delving deeply into your field. But now it’s your first year on the job, and you have to give a talk to alumni and donors… or speak to a reporter… or convince the CEO of your company why what you do is important… or are staring into the eyes of a first-year class. You launch into your talk and you’re met with blank looks. Gulp. How do you translate that hard-won knowledge into language that a non-expert can understand?

Come to this interactive session and learn some tricks and techniques to help you speak simply about complicated research.
