Special Seminar

Friday, August 3, 2012 16:00to17:00
Montreal Neurological Institute 3801 rue University, Montreal, QC, H3A 2B4, CA

Dr. Stéphane Gasman, Ph.D, Directeur de Recherche à l'INSERM, Institut des Neurosciences Cellulaires et Intégrative (INCI) of the Université de Strasbourg will give a talk entitled "Molecular mechanisms of coupling between exocytosis and endocytosis in neuroendocrine cells"

In neuroendocrine cells, release of hormones and neuropeptides occurs through calcium-dependent exocytosis of large dense-core secretory granules. Exocytosis is then followed by compensatory endocytosis, yet how these two processes are coupled remains largely unexplored. Dr. Stéphane Gasman, Directeur de Recherche à l'INSERM, Université de Strasbourg has been a leading expert on defining how exocytosis is temporally and spatially coupled to endocytosis. His current research focuses on actin dynamics and Rho GTPases, which appear to play an essential role in membrane trafficking and are attractive candidates as possible regulators of exo-endocytosis.
