Towards a Predator-Free New Zealand

Wednesday, August 19, 2015 10:00
Presenter: Chantal Tittley

New Zealand is disproving the experts who assert that it is impractical to try to restore ecosystems to some ‘rightful’ historical state. Hundreds of offshore islands and millions of hectares on the mainland have been successfully rehabilitated in the last few years, as pest-eradication efforts have intensified. Astonishing creatures such as the tuatara, the weta, the kauri snail, the Hamilton frog, the blue duck, the kākāpō and the eponymous kiwi have also been brought back from the brink.
