TRANSPORTATION AND URBAN SUSTAINABILITY
The Ghosts of Affordable Housing: Access and Health

Join us for this free talk given by Debbie Niemeier, Professor at University of California, Davis.

Our future prosperity depends not only on a sustainable material economy, but also on a sustainable social economy. As populations increasingly urbanize, access to affordable housing -- and its urban landscape assets -- becomes a critical marker of equity, and an indicator of a socially just and sustainable society. This talk uses the rise and fall of affordable housing in San Francisco to explore what happens when dubious infrastructure decisions coupled with a lack of government transparency are confronted with sudden economic growth.

A workshop hosted by Marianne Hatzopoulou, Assistant Professor in Transportation Engineering at the Department of Civil Engineering and Applied Mechanics, McGill University. Offered in partnership with the Trottier Institute for Sustainability in Engineering and Design (TISED).

Free, open to the public, no registration required
