May 23, 2019 - Start of two large exterior projects

Construction around Leacock Building starting the week of May 27, 2019

Construction crews have started setting up around the Leacock Building, where work will begin the week of May 27, 2019. The concrete structure west and south of the building, which have severely deteriorated over time, will be demolished and rebuilt. Upgrades are also planned on the building itself. Pedestrian and reduced-mobility access between McTavish St. and the lower campus will be maintained between Morrice Hall and the Leacock Building for a few weeks. Pedestrians and reduced-mobility members of the community will be rerouted through McTavish Gates once the construction work there is completed, in early June. Main road to be rebuilt up to Y intersection this year

As announced earlier this year, construction work is also planned on the lower campus main road, which will be demolished and rebuilt up to the Y intersection this year. The work will begin on June 10, 2019. Underground mains will be replaced and the road will be redesigned so as to enhance the lower campus’s shift to a pedestrian-friendly environment. The first few weeks will consist mainly of excavation work. Pedestrian and universal access to campus through the Roddick Gates will be maintained along the west side of the road.
