BUILDING: Leacock Building (west-side terrace)

PROJECT TITLE & NUMBER: 15-056 – Leacock Amphitheatre

DESCRIPTION: Upgrades to Leacock Building; transformation of west-side terrace into exterior amphitheatre (reconstruction to address water infiltration and drainage issues)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reconstruction of west-side terrace of Leacock Building to start in May 2019

Much like the terrace east of the Leacock Building, which was rebuilt in 2017, the concrete structures to the west and the south of the building have similarly deteriorated over time due in part to water infiltration and insufficient drainage capacity.

To address this, the University will launch this spring a major rehabilitation of that area, which will include the transformation of the west-side terrace into an exterior amphitheatre. The restoration project also includes structural upgrades to the Leacock Building, such as the replacement of its exterior glass walls (“curtain walls”), improvements to all the vestibules to make them universally accessible, repairs to the façades and the columns and waterproofing of the underground structure.

The work should start in May 2019 and is expected to last until the end of 2020.

If you have questions or comments until then, do not hesitate to communicate with your building director, who will connect with us.
