 Dr. Bree Akesson - Winner of the Distinguished Dissertation Award

Published: 27 October 2015

This year’s Distinguished Dissertation Award winner (Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences) has spent much of her academic career studying its impact on children and their families.

Dr. Bree Akesson received her PhD in social work from McGill University.  She is now an assistant professor at Wilfrid Laurier University specializing in international child protection and the psychosocial effects of war and disaster on young families.

New methods of research and practical applications of research findings are of particular interest to Dr. Akesson.  She will be talking about those issues and her research in a presentation at the DDA luncheon, Saturday, October 31. It is part of the CAGS annual conference being held in Calgary.

In the meantime, you can read more about her here.
