Appointment of Associate Provost (Planning and Budgets)

Published: 11 September 2006

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Hélène Perrault as Associate Provost (Planning and Budgets) for a five-year term, renewable, beginning 1 September 2006 and ending on 31 August 2011. The position of Associate Provost (Planning and Budgets) encompasses responsibility for academic planning and budgets, academic personnel and planning and institutional analysis. The position reflects a change of title and reorganization of function, not an addition to the complement within the Office of the Provost.

Dr. Perrault (PhD, Exercise Physiology, Université de Montréal) is a professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education and an Associate Member of the Department of Medicine Division of Respiratory Medicine of the MUHC. She has been Chairperson of the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education since 1999 and has been instrumental in the implementation of major undergraduate and graduate academic program revisions, academic renewal as well as fostering cross-disciplinary interactions across several University faculties. She served as a McGill senator from 2001 to 2005, contributed actively to several subcommittees of Senate and has chaired or served on numerous University academic, selection and administrative committees. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Perrault to her new position.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Prof. Jacques Hurtubise, who made significant contributions to the complex tasks of planning and budgets, and was an invaluable resource and support in the reorganization of the Office of the Provost. Prof. Hurtubise's perspective and judgement will be missed. He returned to his research and teaching in the Department of Mathematics upon leaving the position of Deputy Provost on 31 August 2006.

Sincerely,

Professor Anthony C. Masi
Provost
