Desautels Leaps to #6 (from 29) in 2010 Corporate Knights CSR Business School Rankings

Published: 28 June 2010

7TH ANNUAL KNIGHT SCHOOLS SURVEY

The bulk of Canadian business schools are blinded by the status quo, despite the fact that leading schools are mapping out a path to sustainability. Today, Corporate Knights Magazine unveils the seventh-annual Knight Schools ranking. The ranking analyzes how Canadian universities fare in integrating sustainability into the school experience. In reviewing MBA and undergraduate business programs, Corporate Knights adopted a broad definition of sustainability that encompassed environmental and social concerns. Issues of social justice, human rights, professional conduct, cultural diversity, climate change, and conservation were considered.

Desautels is ranked 6th (out of 45 schools) place in "Top 10 Undergraduate Business Program"; 7th (out of 35 schools) in "Top MBA programs"; (Both are huge improvements from 2009 in which McGill did not place 29th). Emphasis for Desautels year was placed on the Integrated MBA, where CSR and Integrity in business decision-making is more inherent in the whole curriculum design, rather than just being a single course on ethics or sustainable development. In the Engineering Schools category, McGill did not rank in the top ten this year.
