WINNIPEG - Forward Carly Hill of Dorval, Que., tallied her first career hat-trick and added a helper as No.1-ranked McGill skated to a 9-2 rout over the Saskatchewan Huskies in their second game of the Bisons Holiday Classic women's hockey tournament at Max Bell Arena, Thursday.

Ten different McGill players got on the scoresheet, led by sniper Ann-Sophie Bettez of Sept-Iles, Que., who registered a five-point performance, scoring one goal to go along with four assists. Katia Clement-Heydra of St. Bruno de Montarville, Que., added four points, including one marker.

The Martlets had a lopsided 35-10 margin in shots, including a 22-5 margin in the middle frame, en route to racking up their 15th consecutive victory over CIS opponents. McGill can capture the three-day tourney by defeating No.5-ranked Alberta on Sunday (2:30 pm Eastern).

"To be honest, I was a little worried that we might look past this game and think about playing Alberta," said McGill head coach Peter Smith. "But that didn't happen. We had four lines and all six defencemen giving good puck support and we moved the puck real well."

Hill, who also scored in McGill's tourney opening win over Manitoba, now has eight markers and 18 points in 24 games overall. She will be playing for the CIS all-star team at the FISU World University Winter Games in Turkey next month. The fifth-year veteran broke open a scoreless draw just 27 seconds into the middle period, which sparked a five-goal explosion by the Martlets. She tallied her second marker 16 minutes later to put the game out of reach at 5-1, then completed her hat-trick with just over five minutes remaining in the contest, making the score 8-1.

Rounding out the scoring for McGill was Leslie Oles of Beaconsfield, Que., Jasmine Sheehan of Mississauga, Ont., Jordanna Peroff of Keswick, Ont., and Alyssa Cecere of Brossard, Que.

Forwards Julie Paetsch and Sara White replied for the Huskies.

Goaltender Charline Labonté, a senior from Boisbriand, Que., made only eight saves to post the victory, improving her lifetime record to 118-9-3 overall in a McGill jersey. She adds to her own school records with every victory and shutout.

A beleaguered Mackenzie Rizos was saddled with the loss for the Huskies. She conceded eight goals on 34 shots before being relieved by understudy Brianna Workman for the final five minutes and eight seconds.
