Hugues Barbeau awarded the Reeve-Irvine Research Medal for work on spinal cord injury

In March 2009 Dr. Hugues Barbeau was awarded the Reeve-Irvine Research Medal along with Dr. Susan Harkema for their accomplishments in the clinical translation of locomotor training using body-weight supported systems for individuals living with spinal cord injuries. The Reeve-Irvine Medal was founded by Joan Irvine Smith in honour of Christopher Reeve. The medal includes a $50,000 cash award generously contributed by Joan Irvine Smith and the Alathie R. Clarke Foundation. Between 1996 and 2007, 17 exceptional researchers have received this prestigious award. (Description by the Reeve-Irvine Research Center)
