Library to remain open during work disruption

The Library will remain open during the MUNACA strike which began on Thursday, September 1 at 6AM.

The Library has reduced Opening Hours in several of our branches. Our two largest branches, the Humanities and Social Sciences Library and the Schulich Library of Science and Engineering remain open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for study.

Service Hours (Loans, Reserves and Information) have been temporarily reduced in all branches. Complete details below:

Services affected

In addition to the reduced opening hours, the following library services are affected

  • Ask a Librarian virtual reference available Monday – Friday, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
  • The Digitization on Demand service will not be available at this time.
  • A reduced number of daily newspapers are available. (Newspapers are available online through PressDisplay and other resources.)
  • Interlibrary Loan Borrowing for McGill students, professors and researchers is reduced (details). Urgent ILL borrowing request can be submitted, and students can use a CREPUQ borrowing card to borrow materials in-person from other Montreal university libraries (details).
  • Interlibrary Loan Lending from McGill Library’s collections to external libraries is suspended (details).
