Macdonald renovation dust control measures

Published: 17 December 2010

In response to reports of dust in parts of the McConnell building, the air quality on every floor in the McConnell building has been tested and found to be free of asbestos.  McGill has hired a specialized independent firm to ensure that safety measures in asbestos abatement measures are strictly followed by construction workers. All areas that have not been not sealed off may be safely used by staff and students.

To minimize demolition dust in the McConnell building, the Macdonald renovation sites are being sealed with air-tight enclosures and all debris bins have been covered.

McGill health and safety personnel continue to closely monitor the situation and work with the contractor to ensure that all safety protocols are followed.  We apologize for this recent inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
