McGill marches for Centraide

Published: 24 September 2004

Get out your McGill umbrellas! Students, staff and faculty are encouraged to take part in the 2004 Centraide March of 1,000 Umbrellas on September 29.

"We hope the McGill community joins the march en masse, since the University is one of Centraide's biggest institutional supporters," says Dean of Law Nicholas Kasirer, co-chair of McGill's 2004 Centraide Committee along with Judy Dear, Janet Arts (incoming) and Kate Maguire (outgoing).

McGill marchers will meet at the Roddick Gates at 11:30 am. Nearly 8,000 Montrealers are expected to march towards Complexe Desjardins, where Centraide's 2004 campaign objective will be unveiled.

The McGill 2004 Centraide Committee, for its part, hopes to raise $275,000 by December.

Centraide is an "umbrella" organization that supports over 325 community agencies. Pledges are welcome at www.mcgill.ca/centraide.
