Prof. Robert Mellin wins Southcott Award

Published: 18 November 2016

On November 17, 2016, Prof. Robert Mellin won a Southcott Award recognizing “design in context” for his new Middle Arm, Newfoundland residential project, “The Ballyhack Treehouse.” The design for this project incorporates both modern and traditional elements in a tall house with a small footprint, with the intent of preserving as many of the existing trees as possible on its Conception Bay waterfront site. Two wings are joined by a second floor insulated bridge, and the main living area is at the third level of the north wing with a spectacular panoramic view of the bay. This was the 32nd year for the Annual Southcott Awards, sponsored by the Newfoundland and Labrador Historic Trust. For further information, please visit the Ballyhack Treehouse webpage.
