Rain cancels third round of Canadian golf championship

Published: 28 May 2009

Hamilton, Ont. – Heavy rainfall forced the cancellation of the third round of play, Thursday, at the 2009 Canadian collegiate championship, conducted by the Royal Canadian Golf Association at King’s Forest Golf Course, in Hamilton, Ont.

With most of the competitors yet to tee off for their third round and unplayable course conditions at King’s Forest, RCGA tournament officials decided to cancel the third round of play and shorten the event to 54 holes.

Play will resume Friday, May 29 at 7:30 am and no cut will be made to the championship field.

The female division, which includes McGill's Melissa Coré of Beaconsfield, Que., who sits third, four strokes off the pace, will tee off in the morning with male competitors to follow in the afternoon.  A revised draw with updated final round tee times will be posted online at www.rcga.org/championships later today.
