Redmen win 7th annual McGill Lacrosse Spring Tourney

MONTREAL -- Goaltender Riley McGillis of Peterborough, Ont., was named tournament MVP as McGill cruised to a pair of lopsided victories over Concordia and the University of Massachusetts to capture the seventh annual McGill Lacrosse Spring Invitational Tournament at Molson Stadium over the weekend.

It marked the sixth time in seven years that McGill captured their spring tourney.

The Redmen hammered Concordia 17-2 on Saturday, keyed by a five-goal performance from sophomore Ryan Besse of Aurora, Ont.,  and four markers from rookie Leland de Langley of Orangeville, Ont.

The victory qualified McGill for Sunday's final, where they waltzed to an 11-2 conquest over U.Mass, led by freshman Alex Rohrbach of Princeton, N.J., who tallied a pair of goals and added three helpers.

McGillis allowed only four goals in two games and was one of five McGill players named to the all-tournament team, along with defender Kyle Robinson, long-stick midfielder Jon Rathauser, midfielder Ossie Long and attacker Connor Goodwin.
