Retirement notice: Robert Savoie, Executive Director, Human Resources

Published: 23 November 2006

To all faculty and staff:

Several months ago, Mr. Robert Savoie, Executive Director of Human Resources, informed us of his desire to retire as of December 31, 2006. He anticipated that the new structure for the Office of the V-P (Administration and Finance) would be in place by then and that the transition to a new Associate Vice-Principal (Human Resources) could consequently be made without causing disruption for the University. We join with Mr. Savoie in celebrating his retirement.

Mr. Savoie joined McGill University in 1996 as Executive Director of the Department of Human Resources. Since that time, he has served McGill well in leading the University as it updated its HR practices and procedures. His contributions continue to have an enduring and positive impact on the University in areas such as Performance Dialogue, M Compensation Policy, the creation of the McGill Competency Directory, implementation of the online appointment process, Professional Development, Health and Safety, and development of the very comprehensive HR website.

On behalf of all faculty and staff, I would like to thank Mr. Savoie for his persistent commitment to keeping the University's mission at the forefront during the last decade.

I am confident the McGill community will join me in extending best wishes to Mr. Savoie for a well-deserved happy and healthy retirement.

Sincerely,

Morty Yalovsky
Vice-Principal (Administration and Finance)
