UPDATE-McIntyre Electrical Shutdown

UPDATE-McINTYRE ELECTRICAL SHUTDOWN - MARCH 18th-21st

Friday, March 18th: 

·         6:00pm All services will be shut down for one hour to transfer regular and emergency power to temporary generator power.  During this hour ALL SERVICES will be down, including ventilation, cooling, heating, hoods, electricity, emergency power, water, elevators, cold rooms, card readers, fire protection, NCS and all ARC services.

·         7:00pm, all 120V-220V services will be REINSTATED on temporary (generator) power.  These services include electrical and emergency backup power (both functional), lighting, water, cold rooms, MEDIT server room and its cooling, rare books ventilation system, waste management ventilation, fire protection control panel, card readers and all ARC services.

·         Elevators will be shut down as of 6:00pm until Saturday morning 6:00am and will remain functional for the remainder of the weekend.

·         All ventilation, heating and cooling will be down as of 6:00pm until 8:00am Monday, March 21st. (only exceptions will be for ARC, MEDIT server, Rare Books and Waste Management).

·         As card readers will be down during this one hour total shutdown, security will be patrolling the building and ID cards will be required to access the building to restart equipment only.  Users will be asked to leave the building once equipment is functional.

No testing will be allowed throughout the weekend as there will be no ventilation in the building.

 

Sunday, March 20th: 

·         12:00pm (afternoon): Second shutdown of all services for one hour to transfer all power from temporary generator power to permanent power.  During this hour, ALL SERVICES will again be down; including ventilation, cooling, heating, hoods, electricity, emergency power, water, elevators, cold rooms, NCS services, card readers, fire protection and all ARC services.

·         1:00pm (afternoon):  all 120V-220V services will be REINSTATED on permanent power.  These services include electrical and emergency backup power (both functional), lighting, water, cold rooms, MEDIT server room and its cooling, rare books ventilation system, waste management ventilation, fire protection control panel, card readers and all ARC services.

·         All ventilation, heating and cooling will still be down until 8:00am Monday, March21st.

·         As card readers will again be down during this one hour total shutdown, security will continue patrolling the building and ID cards will be required to access the building to restart equipment only.  Users will be asked to leave the building once equipment is functional.

 

Monday, March 21st: 

·         ALL SERVICES will be REINSTATED as of 8:00am, including ventilation, heating and cooling.

·         Classes will proceed as scheduled.

·         Should there be any problems with the ventilation due to unforeseen circumstances, all will be advised upon entering the building.

 

Important: Ventilation will be down during the entire weekend and as such no testing will be allowed. Access will be allowed only to restart and secure equipment after each one hour shutdown.

PLEASE TAKE NECESSARY ACTION TO PROTECT YOUR EQUIPMENT AND EXPERIMENTS.  ALL CHEMICALS MUST BE STORED SECURELY BENEATH FUMEHOODS IN THEIR PROPER STORAGE COMPARTMENTS.
