16th Annual Alternatives Days in the Laurentians
On the last weekend in August (27th to 29th), the international
development organization Alternatives hosts its 16th annual
Alternatives Days in the Laurentians. Experts on development, the
environemnt, social movements, and participatory democracy will
gather to offer workshops, presentations, tribunals, and film
screenings. Guests will come from Canada, U.S.A, France, Haiti,
Cameroun, and elsewhere. The Saturday night includes a concert
featuring the hip-hop group Nomadic Massive
(www.nomadicmassive.com) alongside various other forms of
entertainment and outdoor activities such as swimming and canoeing.
The whole weekend costs just $75 for students (that includes
accomodation, meals, all the concerts and activities, and transport
from and back to Montreal). And it's just $60 if you bring your
tent and camp.
