Tierno, St-Cyr named McGill athletes of the week
MONTREAL - Max Tierno of Manhattan, N.Y., and Camille St-Cyr of Richmond, B.C., are the McGill University athletes of the week for the period ending Oct. 3, 2010.
Tierno, a 5-foot-10, 160-pound second baseman with the baseball Redmen, batted .750 last weekend with nine hits in 12 at bats and a pair of walks in four games, all wins by McGill. The 20-year-old management junior scored six runs, had two runs batted in, hit a double and stole five bases as McGill improved to 12-1 and clinched first place in the Canadian Intercollegiate Baseball Association's Northern Division. Tierno enrolled at McGill in 2008 after graduating from Bronx high school in New York.
St-Cyr, a 5-foot-4 midfielder with the Martlets field hockey team, scored four of McGill's five goals over three weekend games. The 20-year-old anatomy and cellular biology junior tallied once in Saturday's 2-1 loss to Toronto, added a pair of goals later in the day during a 3-1 victory over Western and found the net again in a 2-1 loss to York, Sunday. St-Cyr is a product of Hugh McRoberts secondary school in Richmond.
