More than two million people in Quebec don’t have access to primary care, the front door to the healthcare system, according to the newly released OurCare report on Canada. This is among the worst rates in the country, the report states.

To address a medical system that’s facing an aging and growing population, the OurCare report – developed in collaboration with McGill University researchers – focuses on the public’s expectations when it comes to defining good primary care and what policy changes they recommend to shape the system.

With the federal government under pressure to freeze its planned increase to the carbon tax, policy experts are calling for a clear-eyed debate over the legislation and its role in the country's climate goals. Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, along with seven premiers, have called for the scheduled April 1 hike to be scrapped, saying it will only make inflation worse. (CBC News)

Participate in Study on Moving Beyond “Good vs. Evil”

The Science and Practice in Psychology research lab is inviting university students to participate in a brief ANONYMOUS survey approved by McGill’s Research Ethics Board.

Help them find out which potentially controversial socio-political topics could be discussed in the university context.

They are also trying to better understand some beliefs and attitudes that could get in the way or facilitate genuine dialogue.

Dozens of business leaders recently signed an open letter to Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland arguing that pension funds should invest more in Canadian businesses. But their argument doesn’t line up with the facts, writes Prof. Sebastien Betermier in an op-ed in The Globe and Mail. Academic research has shown Canadian pension funds allocate a large portion of their portfolio to domestic assets.

McGill will be hosting three solar eclipse events on April 8, one downtown, one at Macdonald campus, and another at the Gault Nature Reserve.

At approximately 3:20 p.m. on April 8, the sky above Montreal will go dark during a total eclipse of the sun. A rare celestial occurrence, the next total solar eclipse won’t happen in Montreal until the next century. “A total eclipse of the sun is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” says Carolina Cruz-Vinaccia, Outreach Program Administrator at McGill’s Trottier Space Institute (TSI). “You really don’t want to miss it.”

McGill University has mandated CORENOV to carry out the following project: 19-117 Rutherford Building – CFI IF 2020, Brunner.

The project consists of renovating room 025 in the first basement of Rutherford Building to accommodate new equipment for the lab. Minor interventions will take place in rooms 003, 024A, 026, 027, 029A,030, B1-HALL2 & B1-HALL5A.
