Dear friends and colleagues,

As I prepare to pass the bâton to the new Chair, Dr. Marion Dove, the time has come for me to write my last message as Chair of our Department of Family Medicine.

I am extremely proud of what we, together, have accomplished over the last eight years. The McGill Department of Family Medicine has taken its place as an equal and respected academic partner in the Faculty of medicine and indeed in the entire University. We are perceived as dynamic and pioneering in all aspects of our work:

The Department of Family Medicine has been working to deliver excellence in teaching and learning not only for student and residents, but also to academic staff through continuing medical education and faculty development. To this end, for the first time this fall, physicians enrolled as preceptors in the Longitudinal Family Medicine Experience (LFME) course will benefit from an online distanced-blended program of their own, the Preceptor Learning Program (PLP), to help them become better clinical educators.

The McGill PBRN is pleased to have had the opportunity to visit the Vallée-de-l'Or U-FMG during the month of October. Many thanks to Dr. Julie Massé, Dr. Myriam St-Pierre and Lise Dénommée for their great hospitality. The purpose of the visit is part of the visits made by our PBRN to the U-FMGs to get to know them better, but also to make our network known and present the services it could provide to encourage research in the field. We were able to see and confirm the reputation of this environment, namely its originality, enthusiasm and great energy.
