On September 22, 2020, the parties met to exchange non-monetary proposals for the renewal of the collective agreement for non-academic casuals. The collective agreement expired on May 31, 2020. Since then, the Parties have met 17 times for half-day virtual sessions. Several non-monetary items have been agreed upon between the parties, including:

As we prepare to move to a post-pandemic normal, we are all beginning to reflect on and learn from our unique experiences over the past 15 months. I am delighted to announce that McGill is adopting an Interim Flexible Work Arrangement, which will increase the option to work from home for eligible administrative and support staff, with the approval of their supervisor.

The Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Montreal (CIRM) is seeking applications to fill six part-time positions as part of its general activities or its Data for Society Hub. Attached to the McGill Faculty of Arts, CIRM brings together researchers from the humanities, social sciences, pure, and applied sciences as well as law and technology whose fields of interest or expertise are related to urban life and Montréal.

We are pleased to announce that on December 23, 2020, the Association of Graduate Students employed at McGill (AGSEM-FNEEQ) and McGill University signed a new collective agreement. The previous agreement expired on June 30, 2018 and the new agreement will end on July 31, 2023.

In the coming weeks, the detailed terms of the agreement will be shared with the community. The collective agreement will be posted soon on the Union’s and the University’s websites.

The MCLIU Course Lecturers and Instructors Union held its Special General Assembly online, this November 20^th, 2020. We are pleased to announce that members voted in favor of the proposed new collective agreement. The current agreement expired on October 29, 2018; the new agreement will end on August 31, 2022.

In the coming weeks, the parties will finalize and sign the text of the new agreement. Shortly thereafter, the detailed terms will be shared with the community.

On September 10, 2020, the University met with MUNACA union representatives to begin negotiating the first collective agreement of their new bargaining unit accredited by the Tribunal Administratif du Travail on August 2, 2019. The parties agreed to meet on a weekly basis in order to ensure the progression of the negotiation. As per standard practice, a negotiating protocol outlining the framework for the negotiation meetings and their conduct was agreed on by the parties during that session.

Following almost two years of negotiations between the parties, an agreement in principle was reached on July 9^th in presence of the Conciliator appointed by the Ministry of Labour.

The parties’ negotiation committees have agreed to recommend the contents of this collective agreement to their respective constituents, and to keep the details confidential until the Union has had an opportunity to share them with its members.
