Representatives from student groups across campus and beyond gathered in the University Centre for a Food Security Summit on March 15 to discuss ways to improve the sustainability, accessibility, and affordability of food systems at McGill. The summit included presentations, “visioning sessions” where attendees exchanged ideas on discussion questions in smaller groups, and a free lunch.
No longer a problem of the future, the climate crisis is now driving devastating real-world impacts here in Canada and worldwide.

McGill students are champions of the local and sustainable food movement. The McGill Farmers’ Market, the Macdonald Student-Run Ecological Gardens (MSEG), and Organic Campus are student-run projects, independently established to produce, promote, and distribute local food at McGill.
