Paper from Sleiman group selected for a “Spotlight” by JACS.

Published: 24 November 2014

The article entitled "Precision Polymers and 3D DNA Nanostructures: Emergent
Assemblies from New Parameter Space” has been chosen by the editors of JACS as a Spotlight entitled:

"COMPLEX FUNCTIONALITY FROM DNA BOXES AND POLYMER SNAKES"

In this paper, the group attached polymers  containing a precise number of hydrophobic units to specific positions of a DNA prismatic cage.  By doing this, they obtained new structures and properties unavailable from either material individually, such as small ‘quantized’ groups of DNA cages, and ‘DNA cube micelles’ with potential applications in drug delivery and light harvesting.  The first author of this manuscript is Dr. Chris Serpell, a Banting postdoctoral fellow, and the co-authors are PhD students Tom Edwardson (recipient of a CIHR DDTP fellowship), Pongphak Chidchob (recipient of a NSERC CREATE Bionanomachines fellowship) and Dr. Karina Carneiro (currently a postdoc at UCSF).
