Preparing your review

  • CHEM 688 and CHEM 701 (Comprehensive): 15 minute presentation followed by up 30 minutes of questions and deliberation
  • CHEM 702: Defense of  Research Proposal.
    • May be in the same area (eg, chemical physics, organic synthesis)
    • Must not be in your specific field of expertise (carbohydrate chemistry, asymmetric catalysis, metabolism studies)
    • Abstract should be submitted prior to the defense (division-dependent)
    • Progress towards completion of the PhD degree is also evaluated based on a 2-3 slide presentation (5 minutes).
  • Evaluation criteria:
    • Knowledgeable about project
