2-D/DiGE Fees

Use of the 2-D/DiGE facility is charged on a per experiment basis.
Users are supplied with all the reagents and equipment necessary for running 2-D gels, labeling or staining, and scanning and analysis.

Prices are based on reagent and consumables cost, plus a 10% fee (15% for users outside McGill), and are broken down into the experimental modules, as well as the different sizes of strips/gels we offer.

DiGE labeling cost is based on actual dye use.

DiGE CyDyes

Charges will be based on actual price of the current batch.
Usage for a typical experiment is 2nmol of each dye.
(2 experimental conditions, 3 biological replicates each, pooled internal standard, all 3 dyes)

A typical DiGE experiment (2 experimental conditions, 3 biological replicates each, pooled internal standard, all 3 dyes) includes 3 x 24cm strips and 3 x DALT gels plus the CyDyes.

Users typically run a number of trial gels before attempting DiGE (usually two trial gels of the same format, plus staining).

Policies

All prices are subject to change, to reflect changes in reagent and operation costs.
Facility use is based on a sign-up system, which is also the basis for calculating charges.
Billing will be monthly to a fund indicated by the users or their scientific supervisors. The fund holder will be informed of charges incurred by email, prior to the financial transaction. It is the responsibility of the supervisor to make sure the fund indicated covers the charges.
