From Saturday, Oct. 5 through Tuesday, Oct. 8, the Downtown and Macdonald Campuses will be open only to McGill students, employees and essential visitors. Many classes will be held online. Remote work required where possible. See Campus Public Safety website for details.

The New Student Mentorship Program

The New Student Mentorship Program pairs new Canadian undergraduate and graduate students with a returning McGill student to help them navigate their first year at McGill

New students (mentees)

  • Get matched with a trained upper-year mentor
  • Have regular one-on-one check-ins with a mentor monthly throughout the academic year
  • Receive valuable advice from first-hand experience on navigating university life, campus resources, and Montreal
  • Participate in regular social events like ice skating, cookie decorating, and more to meet other students!

Returning students (mentors)

  • Receive training to prepare you for building a healthy and successful relationship with your mentee(s)
  • Get matched with incoming McGill students
  • Stay in regular touch with your mentee(s) with monthly meetings
  • Attend monthly mentor check-ins to update CL&E staff on your mentee(s)' progress
  • Participate in regular social events like ice skating, cookie decorating, and more to meet other students from the program

 


Please note that due to high demand, we match students on a first-come first-served basis. Please apply early! If we cannot match you right away, we will keep your application on file and match you when a mentor becomes available.
