Canadian Incidence Study of Reported Child Abuse and Neglect - 2008
The 2008 cycle of the Canadian Incidence Study of Reported Child Abuse and Neglect will collect data from 90 child welfare agencies across Canada and will involve approximately 1,000 child welfare workers. This study is the only one to provide national estimates of child abuse and neglect in Canada. Since March of 2007, preparations have been made for this massive effort of data collection in the fall of 2008. The research team held focus groups with child welfare workers to get input for some of the anomalies in the data from the 2003 cycle, the data collection instrument has been modified changed based on input from these focus groups and from the National Steering and Advisory committees. Pilot testing of the modified instrument will begin beginning in March 2008 and the sample for the study was selected at the beginning of March 2008.
