Michael Udy is currently Executive Director of Batshaw Youth and Family Centres in Montreal. Batshaw Centres is a provincially funded child welfare agency responsible for delivery of services under the Youth Protection Act, the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and other legislation. Services include adoption, search for biological antecedents and mediation and expert advice to the Superior Court in matters of child custody.

He has been working in the field of youth in difficulty and their families since 1968. Over the years he has held the positions of child care worker, case worker, child care supervisor, Director of Professional Services, Director of Residential Treatment Services and Executive Director.

Michael is a graduate of the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Arts, and McGill University, School of Social Work. He trained in family therapy at the Institute of Community and Family Psychiatry, Jewish General Hospital, and in management at the McGill Executive Institute.

He is also President of the Child Welfare League of Canada, Board member of the Associaton des centres jeunesse du Québec, and a member of the Provincial Advisory Committee on Access to Health and Social Services in the English Language (advisory to the Quebec Minister of Health and Social Services). He is also a Board member and Executive Director of the Batshaw Youth and Family Centres Foundation.
