Cybersecurity Awareness Month: A message from the CIO

Kick-off to McGill’s 2023 Cybersecurity Awareness Month

I am thrilled to announce the launch of Cybersecurity Awareness Month at McGill University! In today's digital age, where our lives are increasingly intertwined with technology, the importance of cybersecurity cannot be overstated. It is our collective responsibility to protect our digital assets, personal information, and the integrity of our academic and administrative systems.

During this month-long initiative, we aim to educate and empower every member of the McGill community - from students to faculty, staff, and alumni - to be vigilant, informed, and proactive in safeguarding our digital ecosystem. Cyber threats are ever-evolving, and we must evolve with them. Through informative webinars, launching a new cybersecurity essentials training and sharing key cybersecurity concepts throughout the month, we will delve into various aspects of cybersecurity. Whether you are a seasoned cybersecurity expert or just starting to navigate this complex landscape, there will be something for everyone.

Our theme this year, " Stepping up our cyber fitness!" underscores the importance of not only defending against cyber threats but also fostering a culture of resilience. We want every member of our community to be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond effectively to cybersecurity incidents.

I encourage you to actively participate in Cybersecurity Awareness Month and take the opportunity to strengthen your cyber defenses. Let's work together to create a more secure digital environment for McGill University.

Thank you for your commitment to cybersecurity, and let's make this month a resounding success!

Sincerely,
Marc Denoncourt
