Daniel Powell

Daniel is passionate about technology, mental health, and the law. He is currently working as a Research Assistant for the Datum project. He holds a BCL/JD with a major in commercial negotiation and dispute resolution from McGill University, an MA from McMaster University and a HBA from the University of Toronto. 

 

Laiba Asad

Portrait of Laiba AsadLaiba is a fourth year BCL/JD student at McGill’s Faculty of Law. Prior to beginning law school, she completed her DEC in Health Science (IB) at Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf. During this time, she developed an interest in the intersection between law and health, which she explored as the Executive Online Editor of the McGill Journal of Law and Health during law school. She is excited to further pursue this interest as a research assistant with the Datum project. 

 

Geoff Meugens

Geoff Meugens outside wearing an orange shirtGeoff Meugens is a Project Manager at the Ludic Mind Studio and holds an MA in English Literature from at McGill University. His work in the healthcare system since graduation motivated him to join the Datum project where he brings his video and editing skills as a coordinator and hopes to learn more about data and privacy in healthcare.

 

Manuela Ferrari

Dr. Ferrari wearing a red coat outside with trees in the backgroundDr. Manuela Ferrari is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at McGill University and a researcher at the Douglas Research Centre in Montreal. She is a recipient of a Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS) Chercheurs-Boursiers (Research Scholar Junior 1) and the Healthy Brains, Healthy Lives (HBHL) New Investigator Start-up Grant. Dr. Ferrari is applying participatory design to online mental health interventions to improve access to care, treatment, and client engagement with services.

In collaboration with the youth, Dr. Ferrari created the LudicMind Studio, a state-of-the-art lab with technical equipment and infrastructure to conduct patient engagement research to co-design digital mental health interventions and solutions.

Dr. Ferrari’s research is supported and sponsored by provincial (FRQS) and federal (SSRCH, CIHR, NRC) programs, as well as industry and business partners (National Bank of Canada).
