Dr. Shariff and Christopher Dietzel Interviewed by CBC about Manitoba Sexual Extortion Case

Published: 17 September 2018

Dr. Shaheen Shariff was interviewed by CBC News about a sexual extortion case involving a 25-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman in Manitoba. The man was recently charged with extortion, voyeurism and indecent phone calls after he allegedly sent a series of threatening texts to the woman he met from a Tinder date.

In the article, Dr. Shariff discusses how sexual violence is under reported and the harmful nature of online sexual violence. Christopher Dietzel, a PhD student and research assistant on the IMPACTS Project, gave a live radio-interview with Marcy Markusa, host of "Information Radio" on CBC Radio One in Winnipeg to further discuss the case and the issues associated with online dating, sexual consent, and reporting sexual violence.
