PhD Candidate and Research Assistant Christopher Dietzel Awarded Mitacs Globalink

Christopher Dietzel, a PhD candidate in DISE and research assistant on the IMPACTS Project, has received a Mitacs Globalink Research Award. Chris will travel to Australia and work with Dr. Kath Albury, a professor at Swinburne University of Technology, to research violations of safety and consent that trans and gender non-binary people experience while using dating apps. For his doctorate, Chris is studying sexual violence in LGBTQ+ communities and sexual consent related to dating app use.

Mitacs is a national, not-for-profit organization that has designed and delivered research and training programs in Canada for twenty years. Working with 60 universities, 4,000 companies, and both federal and provincial governments, they build partnerships that support industrial and social innovation in Canada.
