Dr. Faleh Tamimi Becomes a Canada Research Chairholder

In February 2016, the Government of Canada announced a $260-million investment in its Canada Research Chair (CRC) Program, representing 305 new or renewed CRC appointments in 53 postsecondary institutions across Canada. Twenty-five of these appointments were earned by outstanding McGill researchers, including Dr. Faleh Tamimi. As described on the Canada Research Chair Program website: “Chairholders aim to achieve research excellence in engineering and the natural sciences, health sciences, humanities, and social sciences. They improve our depth of knowledge and quality of life, strengthen Canada's international competitiveness, and help train the next generation of highly skilled people through student supervision, teaching, and the coordination of other researchers' work.” Dr. Tamimi explains: “This award means a lot me in terms of recognition from colleges within and beyond my field as well as the general public. More importantly, this honour encourages me to keep working hard on what I am good at, which is finding cures and treatments for diseases, and try to make the future a little bit better.” Get the details of the original announcement and the complete list of McGill’s 25 new and renewed Canada Research Chairs here.
