Gilles Lavigne
Gilles Lavigne is a dentist with training in oral medicine, pain and sleep. He is internationally recognized for his research on sleep bruxism, sleep apnea and pain & sleep interactions. Over the years, he was vice-dean for research and dean (Faculty of Dental Medicine, Université de Montréal), president of the Canadian Sleep Society and Canadian Pain Society, and he was a Canada Research Chair in Pain, Sleep & Trauma (2007-2021). GL is also an associated professor at the Université de Montréal where he was full professor from 1987 to 2024. He received an honoris causa from the University of Zurich, Switzerland, (2009) and Order of Canada (2019). He has authored over 290 peer review papers and co-edited 4 books. He is active in research and clinic at the department of stomatology of the CHUM Since June 2024, he is a professor at the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences with an appointment in Neurology and Neurosurgery, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University.
