The McGill Core Internal Medicine Residency Training Program spans three years, encompassing program levels R1, R2, and R3. Upon successful completion of these initial (core) three years, residents have the opportunity to pursue Subspecialty Residency Training, where they can select from a diverse range of specialties and progress through program levels R4, R5, and, in certain cases, R6.
This program is fully accredited by both the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and by the Collège des médecins du Québec.
The McGill Core Internal Medicine Residency Training Program is based at three major teaching centres on the island of Montreal. Each year residents will rotate across the three base hospital sites (Montreal General Hospital, Royal Victoria Hospital, Jewish General Hospital) during their training. Note: The McGill Core Internal Medicine Residency Training Program (R1-R3) is not to be confused with the General Internal Medicine Subspecialty Residency Training Program (R4-R5).
